Jefferson County Prevention Team, including YMPEP staff, provided local middle and high school students with information about the harms of vaping. This vapor prevention lesson comes in response to the significant percentage of youth vaping during and after school. The highly interactive lesson drew on materials from the Stanford Tobacco Prevention Toolkit, including for main topic areas: Facts about vaping, Media Literacy, How the lungs work and Impacts of Nicotine on the adolescent brain.
Truth Among the Vapors is a 3-hour training of the trainer style workshop introducing the concepts and devices for vaping nicotine and marijuana, data on e-cigarette use in Washington, myth-busting health research, and the present state of e-cigarette policy. It is ideal for community coalitions, educators, and public health specialists looking to take action and start a conversation about vaping in their communities.
